John Stefanchik
"When I'm playing, I think more in terms of being an accompanist. What and how do I play to make the music fuller and richer for everyone?" A graduate with honors from Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, John brings a rich musical background to Echoface. "I was very blessed to have studied with John Repucci the entire time that I was at Berklee, and he imparted on me two philosophies that have become a permanent part of my musical psyche: One, is to play and respond to what the music needs, and second (which I feel ties into the first) is to leave my ego in the trunk of my car when I play with other musicians." "I've found that the best bass lines surface when I respond to Shawn's vocal line, and think in terms of what I can play to reinforce his performance. Of course I'll come up with a line that compliments what Shawn is doing, and that in turn makes the music all the more enjoyable." "The most beautiful aspect of playing in Echoface is that Shawn presents us with canvases that are his compositions, and we in turn (depending on the size of the canvas/composition) paint our section of it however we please. Which paintbrush/color do I use... six string fretted, six string fretless (a real one, no "training wheel lines" here), or my six string Clevinger(Clevinger Solid Acoustic Concerto 6 String with Holosonic option)?" |
